We invest in your growth” is the motto of BORN2GROW, a venture capital fund from Germany that focuses on start-ups in the tech industry.

The organisation provides capital to early-phase innovators and stays with them as they grow and expand.

BORN2GROW invests in start-ups that offer truly innovative ideas, and a management team with the skills and grit to achieve sustainable growth,” explains Manuel Böhringer, Investment Manager at BORN2GROW.

Whom Does BORN2GROW Work With

In general, BORN2GROW partners with companies at an early stage. However, their private funding allows them to form long-term relationships that may involve their parent company, Zukunftsfonds Heilbronn (ZFHN).

By investing in a range of industries, BORN2GROW can take part in a variety of growth opportunities and manage risk at the same time.

Our start-up partners are at work in fields from the Internet of Things to Mobility, and from Life Sciences to Industry 4.0,” Mr. Böhringer says.

Since 2016, Manuel Böhringer has been working as an Investment Manager for Born2Grow and ZFHN. He acquired his knowledge of the theoretical foundations of corporate finance through his banking studies and internships in the financial industry.

He’s very enthusiastic about technological ideas with disruptive potential. Seeing start-ups grow from 2 to 100 employees is what fascinates him the most.

Biggest Achievements

BORN2GROW and ZFHN have invested in more than 40 start-ups and has supported them on their way to becoming established players in the market.

One of its biggest achievements is the sale of Xenios AG to Fressenius Medical Care in 2016 for a three-digit million amount by the ZFHN.

Today, there are many promising portfolio companies with solid growth and a ton of potential. One of them is the German-Israeli start-up Inspekto.

Since our seed investment three years ago, the start-up has grown strongly and has already collected a two-digit million amount,” Manuel Böhringer proudly shares.

The venture fund’s volume is around 200 million. Born2Grow’s initial investments range from 0.5 to 1 million. The follow-up investments are up to 2 million. If more funding is required, the ZFHN can step in with investment tickets of up to 15 million per company.

Connection with InvestHorizon

We see InvestHorizon as a great programme to support deep-tech start-ups on their growth path. In addition, financing is also a decisive factor. We from Born2Grow and ZFHN are happy to support them and are open to innovations of any kind,” concludes Mr. Böhringer.
