Dr Michael Schlüter holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Bayreuth. He has worked in the Space sector throughout his career, at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Astrium EADS (now AIRBUS D&S) and MTU Aero Engines AG. Dr Schlüter is project manager and coordinator of radiation tests of EEE (Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) & Opto parts used in space programs compliant with ESA and MIL requirements. He has published several papers in international journals and multiple conference proceedings. In 2013 he founded Spectrum ARC GmbH. since 2013:Managing Director Industrialization of modern high performance commercial electronic components and materials for space and harsh environmental applications. 2011 - 2014: Electronic test engineering and project management 2008 – 2011: Radiation engineering and management 2007 - 2008: R&D of extreme materials in nuclear fusion science 2003 - 2007: PhD in high energy physics and chemical sputtering

Commercial electronics low-cost upgraded and qualified for aerospace

Spectrum ARC GmbH a Spin-Off out of the German Aerospace Agency (DLR), supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the EU (Horizon 2020 program) has the goal to push the so called "New Space" by intoducing modern, low-cost commercial electronics. High Reliability is fundamental for space missions. Cost reduction with high reliability and quality plays an important roll in the development of the space market. Selected commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) electronics are tested and qualified by Spectrum ARC GmbH and offer a new perspective in the space technology. The so called SpaceCOTS allow SMEs and big players to redesign the evolution of the space field by introducing the best and modern technology performance in space. Space hardware industries can access a variety of parts from several manufacturers and provide a big design flexibility.
